Support URL: https://presage42.com/live-translator-voice-photo/support
This Privacy Policy explains how Presage42 ("Presage42", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use Live Translator - Voice, Photo and related services, websites, support channels, and features where this Privacy Policy is posted (collectively, the "Service").
Live Translator - Voice, Photo is currently distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store for iOS and/or iPadOS devices.
Live Translator - Voice, Photo is designed to provide translation-related features while keeping user data collection as limited as reasonably possible. In particular, we do not store your translation content on our backend after a translation, transcription, image translation, summarization, or text-to-speech request is completed. However, some content must be processed temporarily by our backend and third-party service providers in order to provide the Service.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your information will be processed as described below.
1. Who We Are
Presage42 is the provider of the Service and is responsible for the processing of personal information described in this Privacy Policy, unless otherwise stated.
For privacy questions or requests, you may contact us at:
Presage42
Email: hello@presage42.com
Website: https://presage42.com
Support: https://presage42.com/live-translator-voice-photo/support
2. Summary of Our Data Practices
We want our privacy practices to be easy to understand:
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not use your data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Because we do not perform cross-app or cross-website tracking, the app does not show Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
We do not use your translation content to train our own AI models.
We do not run third-party analytics SDKs such as Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, PostHog, or similar tools.
We do not use Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, or similar crash reporting SDKs.
We do not collect precise GPS location, contacts, or remote push notification tokens.
We perform a backend-level IP-derived country lookup using a locally embedded GeoIP database to help enforce regional restrictions for protected AI features. Availability restrictions are also enforced through Apple App Store distribution settings.
Translation history is stored locally on your device, not on our servers.
Text, images, audio, and translation requests may be processed temporarily through our backend and OpenAI to provide translation, transcription, OCR/image translation, summarization, and text-to-speech features.
Subscription and purchase status is handled through Apple and Adapty.
3. Information We Collect or Process
The types of information we collect or process depend on how you use the Service.
3.1 Account and User Identifier Information
Live Translator - Voice, Photo requires an account/session identifier to operate features such as usage limits, subscription access, rate limiting, abuse prevention, and account deletion.
When you use Sign in with Apple, Apple's identity token can contain an opaque Apple user identifier and, depending on what you authorize through Apple, your email address or Apple private relay email address. Our backend currently uses only the opaque Apple user identifier. Any email value transmitted inside the identity token is ignored and not stored by us.
If an anonymous or device-based account flow is used, the app generates a random device-scoped UUID and sends it once to our backend so we can derive a stable account identifier. Our backend immediately hashes that value using SHA-256 and stores only the hash. The raw UUID is not persisted on our servers.
Session tokens, user identifiers, and device-bound identifiers may be stored locally on your device using Apple's Keychain.
We use account/session identifiers to:
authenticate access to the Service;
enforce free and paid usage limits;
apply per-user rate limits;
verify subscription status;
provide account deletion functionality;
protect against abuse and misuse.
3.2 Text Translation Content
When you type or paste text for translation, summarization, or related language features, that text is sent securely to our backend and then forwarded to OpenAI to generate the requested result.
We do not store typed text or translated output on our backend after the request is completed.
Your typed text and translation output may be saved locally on your device as part of your translation history, unless you delete it.
3.3 Voice, Audio, and Recording Data
Live Translator - Voice, Photo includes two different voice-related flows.
Live Speak Mode
In live conversation or "Speak" mode, audio is captured on your device and processed through Apple's Speech framework to produce a transcript. The raw audio stream is not sent to our backend in this mode. Only the resulting text transcript is sent to our backend for translation.
Apple's Speech framework may process certain speech recognition requests on-device or through Apple servers depending on language, device, system settings, and Apple's own technologies. Such processing is governed by Apple's privacy practices.
Long-Form Record Mode
In long-form recording mode, the app records audio locally on your device. Recording mode is allowed to continue while the app is in the background so that long recordings are not interrupted when the screen locks or when you temporarily leave the app. You can stop recording at any time from the Lock Screen Live Activity, where available, or by reopening the app.
When you choose to transcribe a recording, the audio file is sent to our backend, which forwards it to OpenAI's transcription service.
We do not store uploaded audio files on our backend after the transcription request is completed.
Recorded audio files may remain stored locally on your device until you delete them.
3.4 Images and Photo Translation
If you use camera or photo translation features, the selected image is processed for translation. The image is compressed on-device, sent securely to our backend, and forwarded to OpenAI's multimodal model to read and translate visible text.
We do not store uploaded images on our backend after the image translation request is completed.
We do not use a separate OCR provider such as Google Vision, Google ML Kit, or Apple Vision for server-side OCR. The image is processed by OpenAI's multimodal model for OCR-like reading and translation in a single request.
3.5 Translation History, Recordings, and On-Device Preferences
The app may store translation history, recording history, generated summaries, source text, translated text, recorded audio files, and certain preferences locally on your device using Apple platform storage technologies. On-device preferences may include settings such as your selected text-to-speech voice or language preferences.
Translation history is stored in the app's local data store. Recorded audio files are stored inside the app's container, including the app's Documents directory.
This local history is not uploaded, synced, or backed up to our backend. If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, local app data such as translation history or recorded audio files may be included in your encrypted iCloud Backup according to your Apple device settings and Apple's policies. We do not initiate any other cloud sync of this data.
When you delete local history items inside the app, they may be moved to a local trash area and permanently deleted after 30 days, unless restored earlier.
3.6 Usage Limits, Rate Limits, and Quota Data
To provide free usage limits, Pro subscription access, and abuse prevention, our backend keeps limited usage counter data connected to your user identifier. This may include:
current UTC day;
number of translation requests;
number of summarization requests;
number of image translation requests;
number of transcription requests;
total transcribed seconds;
total text-to-speech characters;
subscription plan status, such as free or Pro;
timestamp of the most recent subscription status check;
short-term per-user rate-limit information.
These counters are used to operate the Service, enforce free and paid limits, apply per-minute usage limits, prevent abuse, and protect service availability. They do not contain translation content.
Daily quota counters reset every UTC day. The previous day's counters may be overwritten when you next use the Service.
3.7 Subscription and Purchase Information
Live Translator - Voice, Photo may offer paid subscriptions through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple processes payments and billing information. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
We use Adapty to manage subscription status, paywall configuration, purchase validation, and access to paid features. Adapty may process information such as customer identifiers, subscription status, purchase events, product identifiers, and related technical information.
3.8 Device, Technical, Request Metadata, and IP-Derived Country Lookup
We may process limited technical information necessary to operate and secure the Service, such as:
IP address;
request timestamp;
requested endpoint;
HTTP status code;
app version;
device or operating system information;
error codes or diagnostic information;
abuse-prevention or rate-limit information;
IP-derived country code.
Our backend performs an IP-derived country lookup using a locally embedded GeoIP database to help enforce the regional restrictions described in Section 16. This means the request IP address may be mapped locally on our backend to an ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code, such as "US", "TR", or "DE".
We do not call a separate third-party geolocation lookup service for this country lookup. We do not use IP-derived country information for advertising, profiling, cross-app tracking, or precise location tracking. We do not collect GPS coordinates, street address, or city-level location for this purpose.
If a trusted upstream country header is configured in the future, our backend may rely on that header instead of the local GeoIP lookup. As of the current configuration, there is no CDN or edge provider in front of the backend, so the locally embedded GeoIP lookup is the active path.
Our application backend does not intentionally write request-level access logs containing translation content. However, our hosting provider, Hosting Dünyam Bilişim Hizmetleri, may process standard infrastructure logs such as IP address, request timestamp, endpoint path, status code, and technical diagnostics for server operations, security, debugging, abuse prevention, and infrastructure reliability.
Hosting Dünyam retains standard infrastructure logs for up to 30 days, after which they are deleted or rotated, unless longer retention is required for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
We currently do not use a CDN, edge provider, Cloudflare, Fastly, Akamai, or similar provider for the Service.
3.9 Support Communications
If you contact us by email or another support channel, we may process your email address, message content, attachments, and any information you choose to provide.
We use support communications to respond to your requests, troubleshoot issues, improve the Service, and protect our legal rights.
Support emails are retained for up to 24 months. After that period, support emails are deleted or anonymized, unless longer retention is required for legal, security, accounting, or dispute-resolution reasons.
3.10 Clipboard and Pasted Text
Live Translator - Voice, Photo does not automatically collect, monitor, or upload your clipboard in the background.
If you copy text from another app and manually tap a Paste control or otherwise paste text into Live Translator - Voice, Photo, iOS may briefly display a system banner indicating that Live Translator - Voice, Photo pasted from another app. This is a system-level notice. We read clipboard contents only at the moment you explicitly choose to paste, and pasted text is treated like typed translation content.
3.11 Information We Do Not Collect
Based on the current implementation, we do not collect:
precise GPS location;
contacts;
remote push notification tokens;
IDFA for tracking;
third-party advertising identifiers;
third-party analytics events;
custom profile photos;
biometric identifiers;
health data;
payment card numbers.
4. How We Use Information
We use information for the following purposes:
4.1 To Provide the Service
We process information to:
translate text;
translate spoken language;
transcribe recordings;
translate text visible in images;
summarize text where available;
generate text-to-speech audio;
save local history on your device;

4.3 To Maintain Security, Rate Limits, Regional Availability, and Abuse Prevention
We may use technical data, request metadata, IP-derived country code, account identifiers, short-term rate-limit data, and quota data to detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, security incidents, excessive usage, automated misuse, restricted-region access, or violations of our Terms of Use.
4.4 To Provide Support
We use support communications to respond to your questions, investigate issues, and provide customer service.
4.5 To Comply with Legal Obligations
We may process and retain information where necessary to comply with applicable laws, legal requests, tax/accounting obligations, sanctions or export-control requirements, regulatory requirements, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
5. AI Processing, OpenAI, and Model Training
Live Translator - Voice, Photo uses OpenAI's standard API to provide translation, transcription, image translation/OCR-like reading, summarization, and text-to-speech features.
We do not use your personal information, translation content, audio, images, or outputs to train our own AI models.
OpenAI does not use our API inputs or outputs to train its models. Our backend does not opt in to OpenAI's stored-logs feature. Specifically, we do not set the store=true flag on any OpenAI API request, so user content is not stored in our OpenAI organization's Logs dashboard.
However, OpenAI may retain API request and response data for up to 30 days for automated abuse and misuse monitoring, after which it is deleted, unless a different retention configuration applies or longer retention is required by law or necessary to protect OpenAI's services or third parties from harm.
We have not enrolled in OpenAI's Zero Data Retention program or Modified Abuse Monitoring program.
Our current OpenAI usage includes standard Chat Completions, audio transcription, and audio speech endpoints. We do not currently use OpenAI's Assistants API, Files API, Batch API, fine-tuning, retrieval/vector-store features, or similar features with different retention behavior. If our use of OpenAI services changes in a way that materially affects how your information is processed, we will update this Privacy Policy as appropriate.
Because third-party provider policies may change, users should review OpenAI's current data usage and privacy documentation for the latest information.
6. How We Share Information

synthesized speech audio.
These items may be processed temporarily in transit through our backend and OpenAI to provide the requested feature.
7.2 Local Device Retention
Translation history, recording history, local audio recordings, source text, translated text, summaries, and certain app preferences may be stored locally on your device until you delete them.
Deleted local history items may remain in local trash for up to 30 days before permanent deletion.
If iCloud Backup is enabled on your device, local app data may be included in your encrypted iCloud Backup according to your Apple device settings and Apple's policies. We do not initiate separate cloud sync to our own servers.
7.3 Quota, Rate-Limit, and Subscription Cache Retention
Daily quota counters are maintained to enforce free and paid usage limits. These counters reset each UTC day and do not include translation content.
Short-term rate-limit records may be stored temporarily in memory to prevent abuse and excessive automated usage.
Subscription status may be cached temporarily on our backend to reduce repeated subscription checks and provide reliable access to Pro features.
7.4 Server Logs, Request Metadata, and Country Lookup
Hosting Dünyam may retain standard infrastructure logs such as IP address, request timestamp, endpoint path, status code, and technical diagnostics for up to 30 days. These logs are deleted or rotated after 30 days unless longer retention is required for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
Our backend may also process an IP-derived country code at request time to enforce regional restrictions for protected AI features. This lookup is performed locally on our backend using a GeoIP database and is not used to build advertising profiles or for cross-app tracking.
These logs and technical checks are used for infrastructure operations, security, debugging, abuse prevention, regional availability enforcement, and reliability.
7.5 Support Emails
Support communications are retained for up to 24 months, then deleted or anonymized unless longer retention is required for legal, security, accounting, or dispute-resolution reasons.

15. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, services, or resources. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party services that we do not own or control.
Third-party services such as Apple, OpenAI, Adapty, Hosting Dünyam, and our email/support provider process information according to their own terms and privacy policies. We encourage you to review their privacy documentation.
16. Restricted Countries and Availability
The Service may not be available in all countries or regions. We may restrict or discontinue access to the Service in certain jurisdictions due to legal, operational, compliance, sanctions, App Store availability, service-provider availability, or business reasons.
Regional availability is currently enforced in two layers:
Apple App Store availability. The broader country and region list below reflects where the app is not made available through Apple App Store distribution settings.
Backend-level API access restrictions. For protected AI features, our backend also performs an IP-derived country lookup using a locally embedded GeoIP database and blocks requests from certain regions where API access is restricted by OpenAI's terms, service-provider requirements, sanctions, or compliance considerations.
The broader App Store availability restriction list may include:
Russia;
Ukraine;
Iran;
Syria;
Cuba;
Venezuela;
Belarus;
Afghanistan;
Democratic Republic of the Congo;
Yemen;
China Mainland;
Hong Kong;
Macau;
Myanmar;
Central African Republic;
Eritrea;
Ethiopia;
Libya;
Mali;
Nicaragua;
Somalia;
South Sudan;
Sudan.
The current backend-level API blocklist is narrower and currently includes:
Belarus;
China Mainland;
Cuba;
Iran;
North Korea;
Russia;
Syria.
If our backend cannot determine a country from the request IP address, the current configuration allows the request. Private, local, or internal IP addresses used for development or internal traffic are not geo-filtered.
These lists and enforcement mechanisms may change over time based on App Store settings, legal requirements, sanctions/export-control obligations, OpenAI or other service-provider requirements, technical limitations, or business decisions.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our Service, technology, legal requirements, or business practices.
When we update this Privacy Policy, we will update the effective date above. Where required by law, we may provide additional notice, such as in-app notice or website notice.
Your continued use of the Service after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means you acknowledge the updated Privacy Policy.
